Company History

Kent & White Insurance Ltd. has been established in Bathurst, NB for more than 50 years.

 

In 1950, Bill Kent opened his insurance office in Bathurst. He serviced the community until 1970 when he sold the business to Raymond White of Amherst NS. (hence the name Kent & White Insurance). Mr. White operated the business successfully until 1980 when he sold it to Andy Savoie, a prominent insurance adjuster with Underwriters Adjustment Bureau at the time. Mr. Savoie grew the business from a two person operation to a staff of ten and a clientele in the thousands. As the business grew, they purchased Jim MacLaggan Insurance in 1994 and incorporated their clients with Kent & White. In 1995, Andy and Kent & White amalgamated with Hugh Schryer and his longtime family brokerage A.K. Schryer and Son Ltd (established 1946) to form the largest independent brokerage office in Northern New Brunswick.

 

Today, the company successfully operates out of an office at 280 Main St. in Bathurst, NB. The personal lines division has always been a major focus of the personnel. As well, Kent and White Insurance now specializes in commercial and industrial insurance along with contract bonding. Kent and White Insurance still has clients that have been with the brokerage over 40 years.
